Zusammenfassung

Die Indikationsstellung zur Cochlear-Implant-Versorgung hat sich in den letzten Jahren erheblich verändert und erweitert. Resthörigkeiten werden versorgt, sobald ein konventionelles Hörgerät den täglichen Bedingungen der betroffenen Personen nicht mehr genügt. Bedingt durch das Neugeborenen-Hörscreening (NHS) werden zugleich immer jüngere Patienten zur OP kommen. Daran werden sich auch die anästhesiologischen Rahmenbedingungen anpassen und nicht zuletzt das multidisziplinäre Behandlungsteam im Reha-Zentrum (ICF). Bei der Versorgung einseitiger Taubheit wird es ebenso andere Rahmenbedingungen geben als die wir bislang gewohnt sind. Komplikationen sind in erfahrenen Händen selten und sicherer zu beherrschen. Insgesamt hat sich die Methode der Cochlear-Implant-Versorgung seit den frühen 80er-Jahren etabliert und bewährt.

Abstract

The indications for cochlear implantation have changed and expanded considerably over the last years. Patients with residual hearing now receive a cochlear implant as soon as conventional hearing aids do not bring any further benefit. Newborn hearing screening allows for CI surgery in very young children, a fact to be considered by anaesthesiologists as well as the multi-disciplinary teams in the rehabilitation centres. CI in unilateral deafness also incurs other requirements. Complications in CI surgery are rare and can be handled if the surgeon is well experienced. All in all, the method of cochlear implantation, proved and tested since the early 1980 s, is successful and reliable.
