Iatrogenic Bladder Rupture in a Child Following Voiding Cystourethrography and Its Laparoscopic Management

Introduction

Peritonitis due to iatrogenic intraperitoneal bladder rupture is a very rare surgical emergency and carries a significant mortality due to the difficulty in diagnosis. While cases of iatrogenic bladder perforation have been reported in the literature [1] [2], few have been associated with voiding cystourethrography (VCUG). We present a case of iatrogenic intraperitoneal bladder rupture in a child during the filling phase of VCUG and its laparoscopic management.
