Background
Congenital midline cervical cleft (CMCC) is a rare sporadic congenital malformation at the anterior neck. The true prevalence is not known and less than 100 cases have been reported in the literature. Features of CMCC may be subtle and are easily misinterpreted [Gardner ROE and Moss ALH. Brit J Plast Surg 2005; 58: 399–403, Renukaswamy GM et al. Ann Otol Rhinol Laryngol 2009; 118: 786–790].
We report 2 infants with midline cervical cleft primarily described as “median fistula”. Surgical repair with complete excision and Z-plasty is therapy of choice.
