Abstract

In recent years Basal Cell Carcinoma came in the focus of translational research since the discovery of an important signal transduction pathway, known as the Hedgehog pathway, allowed the development of a novel therapeutic intervention.

In the following the essential basics of Basal Cell Carcinoma and its current treatment options are discussed and the concept of hedgehog inhibitor therapy is presented.
