Introduction

Duodenal atresia and duodenal obstruction, either internal by a membrane or external through an annular pancreas, are a common finding in the neonatal period,[1] [2] frequently associated with other congenital disorders in up to 50% of patients.[3] Duodenal obstruction later in life is mainly caused by scarring secondary to chronic ulceration, or by external compression caused by different tumors. We present here a complete duodenal atresia evolving in a toddler, and discuss the possible mechanism.
