Update in der Mamma-MRT-Technik – Untersuchungsstandards und Qualitätssicherung

Zusammenfassung

Mittlerweile hat sich die Mamma-MRT zu einem wichtigen diagnostischen Instrument der Brustdiagnostik entwickelt – mit einem breiten Spektrum an technischen Erfordernissen und Interpretationsempfehlungen. Der Einsatz der MRT ist sinnvoll und hilfreich, wenn der Einsatz angemessen und die technischen Bedingungen optimal sind, sonst können unnötige Follow-up-Untersuchungen oder Biopsien ausgelöst werden. Dieser Artikel gibt eine Übersicht über die Planung und Durchführung der Untersuchung, beschreibt den physikalischen Hintergrund für optimale Akquisitionsprotokolle, gibt Hilfestellungen für die Bildnachverarbeitung und die Bildinterpretation und berücksichtigt mögliche Fehlinterpretationen.

Abstract

Meanwhile breast MRI has emerged to an important tool for breast diagnostics, with a broad spectrum of technical requirements and interpretation guidelines. The use of breast MRI is reasonable and helpful, provided that an appropriate application and optimal technical conditions are fulfilled, otherwise unnecessary follow-up examinations or biopsies might be initiated. This article gives an overview about planning and performing the examination, describes the physical background for optimal acquisition protocols, gives support for post-processing and image interpretation and also refers to possible misinterpretations.
