News from Your Publisher: Online Access and Thieme Prize for the Best Original Paper

Dear Reader,
Exactly 85 years ago, Experimental and Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes was first published, albeit in German and under the somewhat less lengthy title of Endokrinologie. Since then, the journal’s had a rather momentous ride finally changing name and publication language to English in 1983. And, of course, before coming to Thieme in 1999.

Today, we are proud of the close associations the journal has with the German Society of Endocrinology and the German Diabetes Association. We are equally proud of the stable impact factor that Professors Gudermann and Nawroth have managed to establish over the past years, and we are looking forward to seeing the journal continue to thrive and sharpen its scientific profile.

To celebrate the 85th birthday and to honour the many outstanding papers published in our ¬journal, we will, beginning with this year, award an annual prize for the Best Original Paper ¬published in Experimental and Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes in the previous calendar year. The decision will rest with the two Editors-in-Chief, who will decide on the paper to be awarded. The award includes USD 2 000. The Jury is still out and we will announce the winners in the next issue – watch this space!
