Two New Secondary Metabolites Isolated from Dodonaea Viscosa LINN. Growing in Egypt
Bioassay guided fractionation of the ethanolic extract of Dodonaea viscosa (Sapindaceae) resulted in the isolation of two new compounds identified as Clerodane diterpenoid (1), 1-L-1-O-methyl-2-acetyl-3-P-Z-coumaroyl-myo-inositol (2), alongside with ten known compounds (3 – 12). The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by using NMR spectroscopy and HRESIMS. Isolated compounds were evaluated for their antimalarial, antileishmanial, antifungal and antimicrobial activities. Compound (5) showed good antifungal activity against Cryptococcus neoformans with an IC50 value of 6.11 µg/mL. Compounds (10 and 12) showed moderate antileishmanial activity against Leishmania donovani with an IC50 value of 16.60 and 19.06 µg/mL respectively.
