Postoperative management is performed by all colon and rectal surgeons and over the years, many components have been altered. Improvements have resulted from new technologies and drugs as well as subjecting “traditional practices” to the rigors of controlled trials and evidence-based reviews. Sharon and her colleagues have produced a superb and enjoyable issue covering several important aspects of postoperative management. On behalf of the readers and staff of Clinics in Colon and Rectal Surgery, I sincerely thank Dr. Stein for serving as the Guest Editor and her contributors for their efforts.
