Abstract
There are good reasons to assume, that vitamin D is an environmental factor, which plays an important role in the development of autoimmune diseases. This is also true for the development and progress of multiple sclerosis. Therefore it makes sense, to check the vitamin D status of these patients, and to maintain a blood level in the normal range especially in the winter months. In addition, the combined use with other effective measures of lifestyle is recommended.
