Hornhautendotheldegenerationen sind definiert als Veränderungen des Endothels aufgrund von Alterungsprozessen oder durch Trauma (z. B. nach Kataraktchirurgie). Hornhautdystrophien beschreiben eine Vielzahl verschiedener erblicher Krankheitsbilder, bei denen meist ein bilateraler, nahezu ausschließlicher Befall der Hornhaut vorliegt.
