Tremor ist ein Netzwerkphänomen, zu dem insbesondere die zerebello-thalamo-kortikale und die Basalganglienschleife beitragen.

Tremor-Patienten zeigen eine pathologische Hypersynchronisation zwischen den Arealen des Tremornetzwerks.
-
Tremor kann durch Tiefe Hirnstimulation im VIM, STN oder GPi effizient reduziert werden.
-
Bei der Wahl des Zielpunkts sind neben dem Schweregrad des Tremors auch die weiteren Symptome und mögliche Nebenwirkungen in Betracht zu ziehen.
