Abstract

Compression therapy can be conducted with different medical bandages or stocking systems and is known as basic procedure in phlebologic and lymphologic therapy. Compression can be done as single treatment or in combination with interventional or surgical therapy.

Aim of the current publication is a focus on three main aspects of compression that are under discussion. The topics are: compression in peripheral arterial occlusive disease, advances of the so called progressive compression therapy and compression therapy as prophylaxis of postthrombotic syndrome.
