Die Begutachtung wissenschaftlicher Arbeiten durch Fachkollegen (Peer review) ist der Goldstandard der Qualitätskontrolle wissenschaftlicher Publikationen. Es handelt sich dabei um einen komplexen und oft langwierigen Prozess, der viel Arbeit verlangt und manchmal für Unmut sorgt – bei Herausgebern, Gutachtern und Autoren [1]. Der Nutzen des Peer-Reviews und die Auswirkungen von offenen und verblindeten Begutachtungen werden seit vielen Jahren kritisch diskutiert.
