The frequency of sexual abuse of adolescents in Thrakien, Greece: 15 years experience
Objective: The aim of this retrospective study is to describe the characteristics of teenagers who had experience sexual abuse and suffer of hypoactive sexual desire disorders
Material and methods: In the time between 2006 and 2010, twenty adolescents visited the Department of Adolescent Gynecology in Democritus University in Alexandroupolis with following complaints sexual problems, somatic diseases and depressive symptoms. They were suspected of being sexually abused. All cases were interviewed and asked about partnership and sexual satisfaction.
Results: From the history of the teenagers was founded, that all cases were victims from sexually abusus. Forty -five percent of the victims were primary school students, thirty -five were secondary students and twenty percent were between 12 and 15 years of age. In Twenty five percent the penetrator was the victim s father and in 15% the previously partner. In the majority of the cases (75%) the sexual abuse takes place in family and is revealed after multiple occasions. The occurrence rate of abuse was highest in the summer season (68%) and the participants reported about vaginal penetration in 72% of cases. They suffer from personal distress due the sexual problem in the past.
Conclusion: The recognition and diagnosis of sexual disorders in the adolescence needs gynecologist examination and interviewing and cooperation with the department of forensic science.
