Vesikoureteraler Reflux – Profitieren Kinder von einer Antibiotikaprophylaxe?

Bei etwa einem Drittel aller Kinder mit einem fieberhaften Harnwegsinfekt liegt ein vesikoureteraler Reflux vor. In diesem Fall ist nicht nur das Risiko für Infektrezidive hoch, sondern auch für bleibende Parenchymnarben. Inwieweit eine kontinuierliche Antibiotikaprophylaxe sich positiv auf das Outcome auswirken kann, wurde teils sehr kontrovers diskutiert. In einer prospektiven, randomisierten, placebokontrollierten Studie wurde dies nun in den USA untersucht.
