Die Ätiologie der überaktiven Blase – auch als „Reizblase“ bekannt – ist bislang nicht ausreichend geklärt. Im Allgemeinen handelt es sich um eine Ausschlussdiagnose, wenn keine sonstigen Ursachen für Schmerzen und Pollakisurie gefunden werden. Medizinern aus Chicago ist es jetzt gelungen, mögliche Pathogene in solchem „sterilen“ Urin nachzuweisen.
