Abstract
We describe an 18-month-old boy with Guillain-Barré syndrome and serological evidence of both Lyme disease and infectious mononucleosis. Only rare manifestations of these infections were present. After treatment with penicillin and immunoglobulin, the boy had a protracted, but complete recovery. In patients with severe non-characteristic neurological symptoms, it is important to include an expanded panel of investigations, including serological tests. However, the validity of these may be limited. In conclusion, neuroborreliosis may present as Guillain-Barré syndrome in children.
