Welcome to the inaugural issue of Digestive Disease Interventions (DDI), the official journal of the American Society of Digestive Disease Interventions. The focus of this inaugural issue is on the diagnosis and interventions of the biliary system, areas that continue to play a vital role in the management of hepatobiliary disorders. My aim for this edition was to present a range of topics that cover a spectrum of imaging and interventions of the biliary system. Accordingly, the reader will find topics that range from imaging of biliary infections and cholangiocarcinoma to a number of intervention-related themes regarding the biliary tree. I am grateful to all the primary authors for their willingness to share their expertise and insights on this important field of medicine.
Drs. David Madoff and Baljendra Kapoor, co-editors of the journal, are to be applauded for their efforts in bringing this journal to fruition. I am sure that under their leadership DDI will become recognized as a major resource for information on diseases and interventions related to the digestive system.
I am honored to serve as the guest editor, and I thank the co-editors and editorial staff at Theime for their guidance and assistance.
