In the past, visual perceptual disorders in children with developmental disorders have been over diagnosed while at the same time this diagnosis has also been overlooked. Relevant terms are introduced in reference to case studies. A model for the classification of CVI is outlined. Using selected assessment approaches diagnostic processes are highlighted and discussed as they relate to common differential diagnoses.
