Arrabidaea chica (Humb. & Bonpl.) B. Verlot (Bignoniaceae), is employed in folk medicine for wound healing, inflammation, and gastrointestinal colic. Twenty four Wistar rats (˜250 g) were orally administrated with 100 mg/kg A.chica standardized extract. Plasma and urine were collected throughout 8h after oral administration. Blood samples were taken from the vein femoral of rats into heparinized Eppendorf tubes every half hour after oral administration. and analyzed by HPLC-MS2. Methanol was added to samples, mixed in vortexed and further centrifugation at 14,000 rpm for 5 min. The supernatant was transferred to a clean tube, dried under nitrogen. An 10µL sample was injected into LC-MS/MS (TOF) mass analyzers system. The results, in positive mode, showed carajurin for urine. In plasma highlighted compounds with m/z 711 and m/z 647 after 30 min but no carajurin was observed. Further analysis with HPLC-MS2 and selected ion monitoring are needed for better understanding.
