Summary
In Europe it is anticipated that adiposity will rise considerably amongst women during their fertile years. General practitioners as well as gynaecologists should therefore become versed with the idiosyncrasies of the treatment of overweight or obese women. It is particularly important to have some medical facts at hand for the consultation for the preventative medical treatment of patients wishing to become pregnant. This paper gives a short summary of the problem „adiposity and pregnancy” from a the gynaecologists’ point of view
