Summary

In chronic inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis as well as different vasculitic syndromes, the eyes can be involved with all their structures (conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, uvea, retina, optic nerve) and may partially even reflect the activity of the underlying disease. So knowledge about ocular involvement of these chronic inflammatory conditions is important to be able to timely treat ocular manifestations and to possibly prevent visual loss. In the following, the most common ocular manifestations of several chronic inflammatory conditions will be described with their main characteristics.
