Die Augenuntersuchung bei Kleintieren

Zusammenfassung

Der Artikel beschreibt einen praxisnahen Untersuchungsgang für die Augenuntersuchung von Kleintieren. Zu Beginn der Untersuchung erfolgen die Bestimmung des Signalements, eine ausführliche Anamneseerhebung sowie eine Allgemeinuntersuchung des Patienten. Bei der sich anschließenden speziellen Augenuntersuchung müssen auch bei einer vermeintlich einseitigen Erkrankung immer beide Augen untersucht werden. Entscheidend sind ein systematisches Vorgehen und die Suche nach der Ätiologie der Erkrankung. Eine Diagnose ergibt sich in den meisten Fällen bereits durch die Untersuchung.

Summary

This article comprises a practical approach to the small animal ophthalmic examination. Initially, the signalment is evaluated followed by the general and specific clinical history and a general physical examination. The ocular examination should be performed in a detailed systematic manner and always comprises both eyes. A thorough examination technique is rewarding as a diagnosis can be reached in most cases. The subsequent search for the underlying aetiology is mandatory.
