Summary

Thyroid scanning with ^99mTc has been performed on 100 patients between 2 and 17 years of age with various thyroid disorders. A dose of up to 0.5 mCi was administered orally and the scan was made 90 min later. Good scans were obtained which made it possible to determine the degree of isotope uptake by the thyroid parenchyma and the nodules, the presence of ectopic tissue and changes taking place in the thyroid in thyroiditis, as well as after TSH administration and thyroidectomy. The incidence of “cold”, “cool”, “warm” and “hot” nodules was also estimated.

La scintigraphic du corps thyroïdien par le ^99mTc a été exécuté chez 100 personnes âgées de 2 à 17 ans et atteintes de différentes affections thyroïdiennes. La dose du radio-istope, n’excédant pas 0,5 mCi administrée par voie buccale, a permis après 90 minutes, d’obtenir des scintigrammes très lisibles, rendant possible l’évaluation du degré de fixation du radio-isotope dans le parenchyme thyroidïen et dans les nodules, permettant aussi de découvrir l’ectopie de la glande thyroïdienne. Il a été possible de constater l’absence de capacité de fixation du radioisotope ainsi que les troubles de la glande thyroïdienne dans la thyroïdite, après l’administration de TSH ou bien la strumectomie. L’étude a permis d’établir l’incidence et la fréquence des nodules “froids”, “frais”, “tièdes” et “chauds”.

Bei 100 Patienten mit verschiedenen Schilddrüsenerkrankungen im Alter zwischen 2 und 17 Jahren wurde eine Schilddrüsen-Szintigraphie mit ^99mTc durchgeführt. Die erhaltenen einwandfreien Szintigramme erlaubten, eine Konzentrationszunahme des Isotops im Parenchym und in den Knoten festzustellen, deckten ektopisches Schilddrüsengewebe auf und erlaubten eine Beurteilung von Veränderungen bei Thyreoiditis, nach Verabreichung von TSH oder nach Strumektomie. Es wurde die Häufigkeit des Auftretens der „kalten“, „kühlen“, „warmen“ und „heißen“ Knoten festgestellt.
