Summary
Occupational therapy is an important part of stroke rehabilitation, as it has been found to improve activities of daily life and social participation. However,a broad variety of techniques and strategies are used to improve occupational performance after stroke, and for many there is not yet enough evidence regarding their efficacy. Therefore, this article describes principles of occupational therapy assessment and intervention that are discussed as most effective in contemporary occupational therapy, and important questions for further research.
