Zusammenfassung

In diesem Arbeit wird untersucht, welche Rolle der spanischen Autorin Teresa von Ávila in der Geschichte der Depressionsforschung zukommt. Ausgehend von gegenwärtigen Forschungsschwerpunkten werden Originaltexte der Autorin untersucht und ihre Ausführungen zu verschiedenen Aspekten der Depression, vor allem zur Diagnose und Therapie analysiert. Als Ergebnis der Untersuchung wird vorgeschlagen, dass Teresa von Ávila als Diagnostikerin und Therapeutin eine zentrale Rolle in der Geschichte der Depressionsforschung zuzuschreiben ist.

Summary

This article examines which role plays the Spanish writer Saint Theresa of Ávila in the history of research on depression. Based on recent research activities, original manuscripts of the writer are studied and her comments to different aspects of the depression are determined, especially diagnosis and therapy. It is suggested that Saint Theresa of Ávila as diagnostician and therapist, should have a central place in the history of research on depression.
