Das Therapiezentrum Maximilianshöhe hat 78 stationäre Plätze für sucht- und psychisch kranke Menschen auch bei zusätzlicher Substitutionsbehandlung. Ziel ist, die Patienten bezüglich ihrer Symptomatik bei Psychosen, Depressionen oder Persönlichkeitsstörungen zu stabilisieren. Dies geht häufig nicht unter abstinenten Bedingungen, da die Symptome der psychischen Erkrankung ein unerträgliches Ausmaß annehmen würden. Der daraus entstehende Suchtdruck würde zum Straßenheroinkonsum mit allen negativen Konsequenzen zurückführen und die Phase der Reintegration unerreichbar machen. Ein Fallbeispiel zeigt, wie Therapieabbrüche auf diesem Weg reduziert werden können, ohne das Abstinenzgebot einer Therapieeinrichtung in Frage zu stellen.

The residential therapy center Maximilianshöhe offers 78 in-patient places for combined diagnosis of psychosis or severe personality disorders with substance abuse disorders. Methadone maintenance substitution treatment is provided. Primary target of this form of therapy is the stabilisation of the patients referred for the symptoms of psychoses, depressions or personality disorders. This is often not possible under complete abstinence conditions. Patients who lack ego functions of impulse control are not able to resist craving and reuse street heroine without reaching the treatment phase of reintegration without opiate substitution therapy.
