Summary
Several conditions are comorbid with migraine and chronic daily headache. In migraine there is an association with unspecific white matter lesions, ischemic lesions in the posterior circulation territory and patent foramen oval, however it is still not known whether these findings are causally related to migraine. Therefore, no diagnostic or therapeutic consequences have to be drawn. There is strong evidence that panic disorders, depression and personality disorders are not only comorbid with chronic headache, but also play a key role in headache chronification. First, preliminary data of the Berlin managed healthcare clinic for headache disorders provide an insight into the structure of specialised outpatient care and the outcome of multimodal therapy in chronic daily headache.
