Abstract
Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) may present as an acute or chronic condition. Acute GIB can carry significant risk of mortality. After stabilization and resuscitation, localization and control of active hemorrhage are paramount. Several modalities are available for localization. An increasing number of tools are available to interventional radiologists, endoscopists, and surgeons to intervene to achieve hemostasis. Here reviewed are an array of endoscopic, transarterial, and surgical methods to diagnose and treat GIB, with a focus on new and emerging technologies.
