A Dobermann with lameness in one hindleg and swelling of soft tissues between trochanter major and tuber ischium was diagnosed to have degenerative myopathy of the obturator externus muscle. The diagnosis was based on magnetic resonance and biopsies. The dog recovered without treatment.
