The Central Archive for Patient Records (CAFPR) of the Medical School Hannover, which includes a large, highly centralized patient care facility, is described. Special emphasis is placed upon environment, concept and development, functional organization and requirements. On the basis of this description, the advantages of a microfilm-oriented archive over a conventional archive are discussed.

Das Zentralarchiv für Patientenakten (ZAPA) der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover wird als Beispiel für ein Patientenaktenarchiv einer großen zentralisierten Institution zur Patientenversorgung beschrieben. Besonders wird auf Umweltbedingungen, Konzept imcl Entwicklung, resultierende funktionelle Organisation und Erfordernisse eingegangen. Auf der Grundlage dieser Beschreibung werden die Vorteile der gewählten gegenüber konventioneller Archivorganisation diskutiert.
