This article describes the application of a computer to the control of activities of the surgical department of Cantonal Hospital, Lausanne. Descriptions of the various data forms, the use of the optical reader and the construction of the punchcard files are given. Diagrams and lists illustrate the processing of the data. Experience encountered in implementing the system and the advantages realized from its use are discussed.

Dieser Artikel beschreibt die Anwendung eines Computers zur Kontrolle der ärztlichen Tätigkeiten auf der chirurgischen Abteilung eines Hospitals. Ausgehend von einer Zusammenfassung des Aufenthaltes des Patienten wird durch die Einschaltung eines optischen Markierungslesers eine Kollektion von Lochkarten erstellt. Illustrationen zeigen die verschiedenen Stadien des Vorgangs.

Auf der Basis dieser Lochkarten erstellt der Computer eine Liste der Fakten, die einen Überblick über die Tätigkeiten der chirurgischen Abteilung im Verlauf des Jahres geben. Diese Listen werden für wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen zur Verfügung gehalten.
