In dieser Darstellung werden einige typische Dokumentationsprobleme am Beispiel der Todesursachen statistik aufgezeigt. Die Erhebung kann bezüglich der Dokumentation der Krankheiten, Verletzungen und Todesursachen weiter verbessert werden. Die Unterweisung von Ärzten und Medizinstudenten ist hinsichtlich der Dokumentation tödlicher Krankheiten noch mangelhaft. Es fehlt eine Standardnomenklatur für das deutsche Sprachgebiet. Das Leichenschauwesen sollte weiter verbessert werden. Es sind methodologische Studien zur Mortalitätsstatistik zu fordern. Schließlich ist eine enge Zusammenarbeit aller, die sich mit Klassifikationsfragen befassen, notwendig.
In this description some typical problems of documentation are made evident, the statistics of death causes serving as a model. Inquiry regarding documentation of diseases, injuries and death causes could be further improved. Instruction of medical doctors and medical students as to documentation of fatal diseases is still unsatisfactory, and a standard nomenclature for the German speaking countries still wanting. The system of post-mortem examinations should be improved continuously. Methodological studies in mortality statistics are to be demanded. Finally a close cooperation of all those, who are dealing with questions of classifications, is necessary.
