Abstract
The perspective of our health card project has progressively changed from that of a pilot within a local environment (hospital, practice, community, etc.) to a large and national dimension. The interest of the many actors involved in health cards (health care authorities, insurance companies, social security agencies, standardization bodies, manufacturers, system integrators, etc.) is focusing increasingly on the role that the health card may have as an enabling component within the global communication and information system that will interconnect all points of care and services in a national healthcare system.
