Summary

Platelet counts in 50 normal healthy volunteers were performed at sea level and then serially on rapid induction to 3658 m by air. Subjects were divided into "symptomatic" and "asymptomatic" groups depending on their score on the symptoms score chart. All were brought back to sea level and study repeated. Platelet count in the symptomatic group showed a falling trend while in the asymptomatics a gradual rise was noted.
