The Fibrinolytic Activity in Tissues during the Peripheral Venous Occlusion in Rat[*]

Summary

The fibrinolytic activity was studied by Todd’s histochemical method in the femoral vessels and in surrounding tissues of rat in 6 different periods of time after the ligation of femoral vein. It was found that this activity began to diminish after 4 h venous ligation in the limb with occluded vein as well as in the limb with control patent vein. In almost all specimens that revealed the fibrinolytic activity, this activity was related to the loose, connective tissue mostly in the vicinity of femoral vessels. In some sections the fibrinolytic activity was visible, also, in relation to the small and moderate size arteries and to the nerves.
