Summary

1. Detailed studies in a patient with afibrinogenemia disclosed a normal fibrinolytic system. Activation by the urine activator and with streptokinase was normal.

2. The significance of this observation in relation to the role of fibrin formation in tissue repair and the specific problems of afibrinogenemic patients are discussed.
