Zusammenfassung

In der Behandlungsstrategie von tumorösen Knochenläsionen (Metastasen) ist die Transkatheterembolisation eine nützliche Methode und sinn-. volle Ergänzung in der Therapie und Kontrolle von Blutungen und Schmerzen bei weit fortgeschrittenen Neoplasmen. Es ist weiterhin bewiesen, daß die präoperative Embolisation in der Metastasenchirurgie wegen einer Reduktion des intraoperativen Blutverlusts diese nicht nur erleichtert, sondern in einzelnen Fällen eine zwingende Voraussetzung zur Operabilität darstellt.

Eine rein kausale palliative Tumorembolisation ohne zusätzliche Maßnahmen, wie Chemotherapie und Radiatio, ist als insuffizient zu bezeichnen und engt die Indikation hierfür bis auf die lebensbedrohliche, unstillbare, tumorbedingte Blutung ein. Dagegen wird die Anzahl der präoperativen Tumorembolisationen aufgrund der erweiterten Möglichkeiten einer hochtechnisierten anspruchsvollen Gefäßchirurgie und der damit verbundenen verbesserten Lebensqualität für den Patienten in Zukunft noch zunehmen.
