Summary
126 synthetic compounds were tested with the preformed human plasma standard clot for their fibrinolysis-inducing capacity. A variety of compounds were discovered which induce marked fibrinolytic activity in human plasma. There are definite relationships between the structure of the compounds used and the activity in the plasma. The fibrinolytic activity developed in the plasma was demonstrated with fibrinolytic and with proteolytic tests as well as with the standard clot procedure. The details of these findings and their possible significance are discussed.
* Part of the results reported in this paper has been presented in a scientific exhibit entitled “Fibrinolytic Activity Induced by Synthetic Compounds in Vitro: Studies with Human Plasma” at the 8th Congress of the European Society of Haematology, Vienna, 1961.
