I am happy to write this editorial for our current issue of Journal of Digestive Endoscopy (JDE) coinciding with organization of Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) 2019 at Kolkata. APDW meeting in India, this year, has merged within it, annual meetings of all three major associations related to gastroenterology including Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI). SGEI is actively pursuing its goals and addition of gastrointestinal (GI) technician modules this year which is a welcome addition. Editorial Board of JDE congratulates our dynamic Honorary Secretary Dr. Sandeep Lakhtakia for playing a leading role in this academic activity.
An important milestone in the history of “JDE” is the inclusion of “video section,” starting from current issue. While we have included two interesting videos in current issue, I am hopeful that next few issues will have higher number of video articles. For GI endoscopy, videos are important platform to share innovative and advanced techniques.
Present editorial committee has been working on the journal for almost 5 years now. Quality of journal both in terms of print quality and scientific content has improved over last few issues. We have also been able to maintain the timely release of issues except the last two issues which were delayed due to change of publishers. We do intend to increase the frequency of publication from four per year to at least six per year. This would be possible by regular flow of quality articles, timely review by our esteemed reviewers, and prompt reply by authors.
As the Editor-in-Chief, I, however, am still looking for quality papers with properly conducted prospective research. I, once again, therefore, request GI endoscopists to contribute and showcase their scientific work by publishing in our journal.
