The multiple ligament injured (dislocated) knee is a devastating knee injury and a complex treatment challenge. The goal of this Special Focus Section of the Journal of Knee Surgery is to provide practical information to the reader for the evaluation and treatment of these complicated knee injuries.

The issue presents the topics of vascular injuries following knee dislocations, neurologic assessment and management of the multiple ligament injured knee, timing of repair or reconstruction after knee dislocation, the irreducible knee dislocation, revision multiple knee ligament reconstruction, and perioperative and postoperative pain management in multiple ligament knee surgery in the hospital and ambulatory surgery center settings.

The purpose of this Special Focus Section of the Journal of Knee Surgery is to provide an overview for the evaluation and treatment of these complex knee injuries, to experienced knee surgeons, general orthopaedic surgeons, fellows, residents, medical students, and other health care professionals, to draw attention in knee dislocations and the multiple ligament injured knee.
