Die ambulant erworbene Pneumonie ist die häufigste infektbedingte Todesursache in Industrienationen. Eine stationäre Behandlung verläuft trotz potenter Antibiotika oft komplikationsreich. Torres et al. wiesen nun nach, dass eine kurzfristige, parenterale Steroidtherapie die Rate des sekundären Therapieversagens signifikant senkt.
