Im Mittelpunkt dieses Artikels steht vor allem die Erörterung der in einer Abschlussarbeit zum MSc Radiotherapy and Oncology enthaltenen und erarbeiteten Lerninhalte mit einer Zusammenfassung der selbigen. In dieser wurde untersucht, inwiefern die Lagerungsgenauigkeit bei der Radiotherapie von Patienten mit Hals-Nasen-Ohren-Tumoren durch Ergänzung der Lagerung bzw. Immobilisierung mit speziell angeformten Vakuummatten verbessert werden kann. 20 Patienten nahmen teil und wurden in 2 Gruppen mit den verschiedenen Immobilisierungshilfen aufgeteilt. Zur Ergebnisfindung wurden die Daten aus der täglichen Lagerungsüberprüfung sowie die zu diesem Zweck aufgenommenen Bilder analysiert. Im Zuge dieser Erörterung werden neben den enthaltenen Lerninhalten auch einige in der Arbeit verwendete Grundlagen der modernen Radiotherapie erläutert. Nach der Darstellung des Volumenkonzeptes der International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU) und einem Überblick über die Grundlagen der bildgeführten Radiotherapie wird in einem kurzen Exkurs in die Statistik das Quotenverhältnis vorgestellt. Abschließend werden die wichtigsten Ergebnisse der Abschlussarbeit präsentiert.
Abstract
The main focus of this paper lies on summarizing and discussing the learning outcomes and background included in a thesis composed for the degree of MSc Radiotherapy and Oncology. The study performed for this thesis analysed the influence of an additional vacuum cushion on the positioning accuracy of patients with head and neck tumours receiving radiotherapy. 20 patients were included and divided into 2 groups positioned with the different immobilization aids. The data from the daily image guidances and the images obtained for this purpose were evaluated. In the course of the discussion of the learning outcomes of the thesis the associated background and the basics of modern radiotherapy are presented as well. After the elaboration the volume concept proposed by the International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU) and an overview of the basics of image guided radiotherapy a short digression into the field statistics provides some insight of the concept of odds ratios. The concluding section concentrates on the most important findings of the study presented in the thesis.
