Kernaussagen
  • Ambulant erworbene und nosokomiale Infektionen sind häufig ein großes Problem der Intensivmedizin.

  • Der Behandlungserfolg hängt von einem frühen Beginn einer adäquaten Therapie und damit von einer möglichst frühzeitigen Infektionsdiagnostik ab.

  • Wichtig ist eine rasche und korrekte Probennahme (möglichst vor Therapiebeginn und kontaminationsfrei) sowie ein zügiger Transport der Proben ins Labor mit einem aussagekräftigen Untersuchungsauftrag.

  • Die üblicherweise hohe Bearbeitungsdauer in der Mikrobiologie hat sich durch neuere Verfahren der Molekularbiologie verringert, doch auch die Lichtmikroskopie kann schnell Ergebnissse liefern.
