Die Antibiotikaprophylaxe bei der PEG-Anlage wird schon lange kontrovers diskutiert. Nicht korrekt ist jedoch die Aussage, dass diese nach der derzeitigen Datenlage keinen Effekt auf die Häufigkeit von Lokalinfektionen habe. Auch die aktuellste Metaanalyse der Cochrane Database kam im Jahr 2013 zu dem Ergebnis einer Risikoreduktion um 64 % für lokale Infektionen (Odds Ratio 0,36; 95 %-Konfidenzintervall 0,26–0,50), sodass wir eine allgemeine Empfehlung für eine Prophylaxe weiterhin für gerechtfertigt halten [1].
