As we noted in an editorial earlier this year, we are fortunate to have many excellent research papers submitted to Facial Plastic Surgery. These submissions undergo a rigorous peer-review process, and we are grateful to our many reviewers from the facial plastic surgery community for their hard work. The reviewers work diligently to select only the highest quality papers for acceptance; they also provide suggestions and feedback to the authors to improve their work for those submissions that are not selected. Our goal at Facial Plastic Surgery is not a high rejection rate; rather, we strive to offer our readers the best original research in facial plastic surgery.

We have dedicated this issue entirely to original research. A streamlined review and production process enables Facial Plastic Surgery to e-publish accepted articles within 8 weeks, and subscribers can access these articles (and all prior issues) online at https://www.thieme-connect.de/products/ejournals/fps. For those who prefer to read a physical copy of the journal, we are pleased to introduce issue 5 of 2021 of Facial Plastic Surgery. The topics covered in this issue span the gamut of facial plastic surgery: theory, biomaterials and devices, as well as preferences and techniques in the practice of rhinoplasty, treatment of the aging face, head and neck reconstruction, and facial trauma.

Facial Plastic Surgery will always strive to be fair, honest, inclusive, and collaborative. Worthy articles in the field of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery will be published, regardless of the author's geographic location, specialty, whether from academia or private practice, as long as the information presented advances knowledge in our field. We embrace the opportunity to work with authors and readers from around the world, and to continue to collaborate with members of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and other facial plastic surgery societies around the world. Please read the special editorial that follows to learn more about our commitment to collaboration with colleagues in order continue to promote excellence in facial plastic surgery.

The next issue of Facial Plastic Surgery will return to its more traditional format of invited expert reviews. Upcoming issues take a deep dive into nonsurgical rhinoplasty, facial skeletal surgery, and rhinoplasty, and will continue to include original research articles as space allows. We also will continue, from time to time, to publish issues devoted entirely to these works of original research to ensure our reader remain up to date on the latest development in our field.
