Wächst sich eine ADHS aus? Die frühere Auffassung, dass es eine im Kindesalter diagnostizierte ADHS im Erwachsenenalter nicht gibt, ist zwischenzeitlich durch eine Vielzahl empirischer Studien widerlegt. Man geht davon aus, dass ca. 4–5 % aller im Kindesalter diagnostizierten Patienten im Erwachsenenalter immer noch eine ADHS haben. Eine besonders kritische Phase in der Behandlung ist die Adoleszenz, also der Übergang von der späten Kindheit über die Pubertät bis ins Erwachsenenalter.
