Antibiotic Stewardship: Es ist fünf vor zwölf!

Die Entdeckung der Antibiotika zählt ohne Zweifel zu den Meilensteinen der modernen Medizin, und zu Recht wurde der Entdecker des Penicillins, Alexander Fleming, mit dem Nobelpreis ausgezeichnet. Doch schon Fleming warnte in seiner Dankesrede vor dem Nobel-Komitee 1945: “It is not difficult to make microbes resistant to penicillin in the laboratory by exposing them to concentrations not sufficient to kill them, and the same thing has occasionally happened in the body”.
