Die Möglichkeit der Bluttransfusion zur Stabilisierung von Notfall- und Intensivpatienten ist mittlerweile in jeder Tierklinik sowie größeren Praxis nicht mehr wegzudenken. Immer häufiger werden deshalb auch klinikeigene Blutbanken aufgebaut. Dieser Artikel soll einen Überblick zu den Hintergründen, den Spendertieren, der Blutentnahme, der Konservierung von Blutprodukten sowie der eigentlichen Transfusion ins Empfängertier geben.
